Hey ogm, are you younger than 35? Bear markets such as this are very rare. Bottoms from what I have pieced together come like a thief in the night. No rhyme or reason. I doubt it will be different this time, but on the other hand, perhaps it will be very readable. I can see bottoms forming in many stocks and valuations are the cheapest I have seen in my 25+ years watching stocks. So 2 potential positive signs. If your waiting for some positive economic data to cross the tape first, you'd be in a very large camp. Perhaps those who know bargains when they see them will be the early birds. Just wondering what is your magic bullet to signal its time to buy stocks? I thought you were a pure short term TA timer anyway.
If it can be cornered, it will.

If higher earnings drive markets higher, then what do lower eanings do to markets? Why is everyone ignoring this basic fundamental?

Is anyone expecting earnings to improve?

so the question may be, how big of a counter rally can take place without fundamentals improving? Mark, could the big rally you may be looking for still be in the confines of a bear mkt? I know its not unheard of for a mkt to retrace 50% in a bear rally.

I think we'll be in the secular Bear for a while. But the rally should be great enough for a large number to think we're no longer in it.

And of course, I could be wrong. I do expect earnings to improve, but that's not saying much, either.

I have fear. Of heights. On slippery slopes.
