Yosemite waterfall turns to 'flowing lava'...

The words "Purple Mountains' Majesty" must have been inspired by a full moon hitting the face of Yosemite's Half Dome and El Capitan.
At least that's the thought running thru my head the first time I saw the sight during a full moon many years ago as the grey granite literally seemed to glow purple in the moon's enchanting reflection.
Now another spectacle has greeted lucky visitors as the red setting sun plays on the mountain's canvas at Horsetail Fall.

This marvel of celestial configuration happens in a flash at sunset in mid-February — if the winter weather cooperates.
On those days the setting sun illuminates one of the park's lesser-known waterfalls so precisely that it resembles molten lava as it flows over the sheer granite face of the imposing El Capitan.
