You might want to set up the charts correctly Red - put the NYA in the middle and the cumulative NYUD (top) and NYAD (bottom) on either side....the COMPQ in the middle and the cumulative NAUD and NAAD on either side - and you'll see that the SEC is not needed, nor applicable. Fib

I just hate to interrupt this lively technical debate with a dose of reality... But if anyone thinks the SEC is going to even investigate this obscure anomaly After GS is cleared for obvious and-in-your face criminal activity. You are living in a dream World.

When VIX turns, so will the market. But NOT until.... Best, D

Exactly ! That's what technicians call as "Change in market characteristic". Until then, stay in cash or milk the trend. I can't quite figure why SEC will look into technical non-confirmations.

P.S -
redfoliage,

Or just watch the price and you don't have to deal with these non-confirmations. I am yet to figure out the difference between manipulated and non-manipulated price candles. Keeps my trading simple.

Well, I watch this tape pretty closely every day...

And the VIX action does not surprise me at all.

The VIX is about to be retired as any kind of an indicator...

Because of what I suspect is F'ed (or their surrogates) intervention.

Here's how they "influence" it.

You front run it with the VIX ETFs.

The computer programs take signals off those ETFs and trade accordingly.

See if you can see it yesterday, I watched it in Real Time.

Quick Heads up now on the VIX ETFs.

We have an hourly sign of strength in the first hour. With STRONGER VOLUME fails to test previous low. Now this can also be a head fake, there's a lot of that going on in the market.

What we want to see now is that volume signal hold into the daily, meaning not break that hourly low we made this morning... for a DAILY SIGN OF STRENGTH. Then we want to see VIX confirm that signal in short order...

I think most of the traders around here are swing guys, hoping to carve big profits on a lazy man's entry and exit. Market isn't really that suited to it right now, take a look - it's sideways. All that happens here is they get their accounts ground up with false starts and stops. If somebody wants to truly day trade this. I have a set of signals that works WELL. Takes more work, more trades, but a profit is a profit. But you have to EXECUTE, and not engage in false hopes for longer term.

VIX ETFs busting to new intraday highs, projecting higher VIX ahead now... Unconfirmed by VIX so far.

I'm lazy, don't need to be wild and woolly, -been there, have T-shirt etc.

See my post above. Note the sell pending-based on stops of course.

BTW: Thanks for all your posts over the years, have learned a lot from them.
