There has been a scaling down of expectations on global warming, a fact well illustrated by the New York Times environment writer, Andrew Revkin, in a recent blog post. Revkin observes that ‘there is an accumulating body of reviewed, published research shaving away the high end of the range of possible warming estimates from doubled carbon dioxide levels’.

Revkin quotes the well-known climate modeller James Annan, who in a recent blog post wrote about this issue of climate sensitivity - that is, how much the planet will warm if CO2 levels double: ‘[T]here have now been several recent papers showing much the same – numerous factors including: the increase in positive forcing (CO2 and the recent work on black carbon), decrease in estimated negative forcing (aerosols), combined with the stubborn refusal of the planet to warm as had been predicted over the last decade, all makes a high climate sensitivity increasingly untenable. A value (slightly) under 2 [degrees Celsius] is certainly looking a whole lot more plausible than anything above 4.5 [degrees].’

What a joke.

.03% of the atmosphere is CO2. It could double to .06% and the plants would love it.
Water Vapor is like a million times worse than CO2 as a so called greenhouse gas.
But it's hard to tax. ;)

So is it this 0.03% tiny sliver of a gas?:

Climate libertarians were right and the entire 'climate establishment' was wrong (but make sure that you don't give the libertarians credit)

“I can understand why some climate campaigners, writers and scientists don’t want to focus on any science hinting that there might be a bit more time ("A BIT MORE TIME") to make this profound energy transition. (There’s also reluctance, I’m sure, because the recent work is trending toward the published low sensitivity findings from a decade ago, from climate scientists best known for their relationships with libertarian groups.)

I guess the earthworm activity has slowed down enough to let the world cool down a bit.
That was a close one! :o

Before you two go off the deep end, again, let's reign it in with a re-read of this thread -

http://www.traders-t...?...st&p=619326

The issue of whether the earth is warming over the mid-term (decades) is no longer an issue - it is.

That does leave the questions of whether it will continue over the longer term and whether it is anthropogenic. No one at this point knows for sure and you are certainly welcome to your belief system.

It's just having been so rabidly vocal, and wrong, about the first issue, one would think you would be more humble, if not embarrassed, by the certainty of your opinions now.
John Galt shrugged, outsourced to Red China and opened a hedge fund for unregulated securitized credit derivatives.

If the world didn't suck, wouldn't we all just fly off?

And "you are certainly welcome to your belief system". I just hope you are living it and not being a "religious" hypocrite like Al. How long have you been off the grid?

Major 30% reduction in modelers estimates of Climate Sensitivity (Skeptics were right)

Effectively the power of CO2 to warm just got 30% less, according to a team of researchers, many of whom have in the past have published more alarming papers. Remember “there is no debate” and “global warming is a fact” a lot “like gravity”.

Finally the modelers are catching up with the slow-down or pause in global warming over the last decade. Where the best estimate for the IPCC was 3.3 degrees C with a range of 2.0 to 4.5C, Otto et al have revised the best estimate to 2C, with a range of 1.2C – 3.9C.

Models predictions don’t match the observations.

The warming we’ve had in the last thirty years implies that at best, we could expect 1°C from a doubling of CO2, but observations from eight natural experiments around the globe, and even on Mars and Venus suggest that 0.4°C is the upper bound of climate sensitivity to any cause. In addition, if Miscolscki is right, and an increase in carbon dioxide leads to a decrease in water vapor, then the sensitivity due to CO2 could be close to zero.
