Of course Saddam Hussein was supported by the US for years, supplied with US weapons including chemical weapons.
He was their ally against Iran where they had destroyed its democracy and helped install the Shah as a puppet.
It was the western powers that attempted to create "false" states like Iraq and others that had no commonality.
Like Yugoslavia etc, only absolute power could hold things together for a while.
That's no excuse for Saddam's excesses but then Lincoln did the same to hold the US together.

The Liberal Media Successfully Kept Ted Kennedy Out of Prison
To drink and drive is a crime. To flee the scene of an accident is a crime. To fail to render aid to someone injured in an accident you caused is a crime. While sleeping around on your wife is not a crime, it does display poor judgment and a low moral character.
Senator Kennedy did all these things and because he is a Kennedy, he got away with it. Had you or I gotten drunk and driven off a bridge with someone in the car with us, and we left them to die while we chose not to report the accident and instead tried to invent an alibi, you or I would go to prison. We are not Kennedys.
The key merit of this book is that it demonstrates how in America today someone with power and influence can engage in criminal conduct and not only never be called to account for their crimes, but can even flourish and sit in position of moral authority over others.

Judicial Watch sues National Archives over sealed Robert Kennedy records at JFK Library

A watchdog group on Thursday sued the National Archives and Records Administration for failing to respond to repeated requests for sealed records of former Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, claiming the agency has violated the Freedom of Information Act.
The lawsuit, brought by the Washington-based Judicial Watch on behalf of a Kennedy researcher, stipulates that the National Archives has not heeded public disclosure laws regarding nearly a dozen boxes of Kennedy’s Justice Department files. Those files have been kept in a secure vault at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum in Dorchester for decades.
pressure has grown for the National Archives and the Kennedy family to resolve the status of the rest of what remains a highly sought-after -- and mostly hidden -- collection of American history.

Liberal media let him get away with it.
By any reasonable standard, Weiner’s behavior is less damning than Clinton’s. Yes, Weiner committed adultery (of a kind). Yes, he repeatedly lied about it. Yes, he humiliated his wife in an effort to save his candidacy. Clinton did all that, too. What Weiner, in contrast to Clinton, has not done—as far as we know—is use his office to reward his paramours. He has not publicly besmirched their character. He has not asked them to violate the law. And he has not violated campaign disclosure laws in his effort to keep them silent. According to legal experts, he has also not committed sexual harassment.

The media routinely peddles “noble” untruths. ABC manipulated a video to show George Zimmerman without much injury to his head. NBC edited a tape to suggest that he was a racist. The New York Times invented a new journalistic category, “white Hispanic,” to suggest George Zimmerman was not Latino in a way that the paper would never suggest that Barack Obama is not African-American or Bill Richardson was a “white Hispanic.”
Much of the prosecutorial testimony in the George Zimmerman case could not be true — unless someone gets grass stains on his back and contusions on the back of the head from pounding on someone atop him. Prosecution star witness Rachel Jeantel made up much of her racist testimony, and boldly confessed as much in her paid-for after-trial interviews.
It’s Not Really the Cover-up
Our current scandals are predicated on lies. No one believed the official White House version that the IRS miscreants were rogue agents from a Cincinnati field office.
No one believes much of the official version of the Benghazi killings — least of all that the violence was prompted by a single video maker in the fashion that Susan Rice assured the nation.
The attorney general of the United States lied about the AP/James Rosen monitoring while under oath before Congress.
James Clapper lied about the NSA scandal. All four travesties are still being sorted out. For now the one commonality is that our officials lied about all of them.
Harry Reid knew nothing about Mitt Romney’s tax returns. But lied about them all the same. It is hard to know whether Joe Biden lies, or simply believes his fantasies. He assured us that President Roosevelt addressed the nation on television after the panic of 1929. Remember in 1987 when he lifted much of his campaign stump speech from British Laborite Neil Kinnock?
Our most treasured icons in the media and literature lie. They tell untruth sometimes in the most serious fashion of claiming the work of others as if it were their own — or simply inventing things out of thin air. Fareed Zakaria plagiarized. So did Maureen Dowd.
Nearly all of Stephen Ambrose’s work, book by book, was characterized by both plagiarism and false statements about archives and interviews. Michael Bellesiles was given the Bancroft Award for a mytho-history. If historians could not initially spot the lie, who else could? Or did they try all that much, given the enticing but mythic thesis that today’s gun nuts, not our hallowed forefathers, dreamed up a nation in arms?

NBC NEWS STILL IN DAMAGE CONTROL MODE OVER DAVID GREGORY LEAKS
After news leaked to the Washington Post that NBC News went so far as to hire a "psychological consultant" to interview the friends and family of David Gregory, NBC News has once again been forced to release a statement standing by its embattled "Meet the Press" host.
Gregory is a left-wing elitist with an air of snobbery and disdain so thick it follows him around like Pig Pen's dirt cloud. Time and again, Gregory has betrayed his biases on "Meet the Press," and usually in the most obnoxious way possible. Moreover, Gregory is not half as smart as he thinks he is.
