Political Correctness is now the dominant ideology of the whole Western intellectual world – PC is what most secular intellectuals have instead of a religion. PC came from socialism yet has in recent decades been embraced by the entire political mainstream: Left, Right and Centre.
Yet at the same time, political correctness is obvious nonsense: ridiculous, insane, self-loathing and suicidal.
How can political correctness be at the same time marginal and mainstream, ludicrous and mandatory; crazy and normal? Clearly, this is a phenomenon worthy of analysis.
Political correctness is an objectively totalitarian ideology that has created an environment of fear among the intellectual leadership ranging from social ostracism, to financial penalties and loss of employment, up to credible threats of violence and imprisonment. Consequently Western elites have internalized the constraints of political correctness, so that its lies now permeate our very thought processes.

"Politically correctness is absolutely wrong because it inhibits freedom of thought. I'm so lucky that they weren't so strong then... I was very lucky."

There were two tweets, each exactly one word long, after Michael Sam was chosen by St. Louis in the seventh round: “OMG” and “Horrible.”
The slightest criticism of Sam for being gay is now verboten whereas it was A-OK to mock Tim Tebow for his faith, even on the field during the game.
Gay-rights activists are organized and willing to use their economic power to punish the NFL if it doesn’t protect one of their own; social conservatives really aren’t beyond statements of disapproval from the Family Research Council etc.
Mozilla made the same, perfectly rational judgment in choosing to accept Brendan Eich’s “resignation.” Keeping Eich on could have triggered boycotts, caused business deals to collapse, and given the company a lingering black eye in its industry.

America is the new East Germany
So let me get this straight:
We should concede that there’s no such thing anymore as a private conversation, so therefore remember to ‘lawyer’ everything you say before you say it, and hey, speaking your mind is overrated anyway, so you won’t miss it. Well, I’ll miss it. I’ll miss it a lot …
Does anyone really want there to be no place where we can let our hair down and not worry if the bad angel in our head occasionally grabs the mic? …
Who wants to live in a world where the only privacy you have is inside your head? That’s what life in East Germany was like. That’s why we fought the Cold War, remember? So we’d never have to live in some awful limbo where you never knew who — even among your friends — was an informer.

Professor Lennart Bengtsson received intense pressure 'all over the world'
Stepped down from Global Warming Policy Foundation's advisory council
Swedish academic had only been in the position for three weeks
Think-tank was set up by former Tory Chancellor Lord Lawson
Group has been accused of being sceptic towards climate-change policies
A globally-renowned climate scientist has been forced to step down from a think-tank after he was subjected to 'Mc-Carthy'-style pressure from scientists around the world.
Professor Lennart Bengtsson, 79, a leading academic from the University of Reading, left the high-profile Global Warming Policy Foundation as a result of the threats, which he described as 'virtually unbearable'.

For the PC it is vitally necessary to control discourse, to exclude all hostile communications if possible, immediately to stop them if they break through. There can be no delay
When a non-PC speaks, or is read, or watched – as he invades PC discourse - the politically correct can feel their life draining away, can sense the world receding, can perceive the delusional world crumbling, the void yawning.
Hence the viciousness, the panicked attack using anything to hand which might work: ad hominem inventions (immediately believed as facts), fantasied motivations, lies of any and every kind and even violence (at second hand – regretted, maybe, but not condemned).
For the PC it is vitally necessary to control discourse, to exclude all hostile communications if possible, immediately to stop them if they break through. There can be no delay – effective dissent must be shouted-down, mocked, vilified, shut-up; the politically correct must switch-off, turn-away, gabble and gossip to drown or silence the hostile discourse; instruct, direct and unleash the mob - then begin again to rebuild the thought prison of PC discourse by their own words, in their own image.

Hirsi Ali, who should be an international hero of human rights, becomes a villain. At Dartmouth, the word “fiesta” used by an Anglo for a heart disease benefit becomes an instrument of supposed racial oppression.
A fusillade of attacks by students and faculty on commencement speakers and honorary degree awardees at four of our better known schools — Smith, Haverford, Rutgers and Brandeis — has tarnished this year’s commencement season beyond any in recent memory.
Speakers as distinguished as Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Christine Lagarde, former Berkeley Chancellor Robert Birgeneau and former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice have been forced to withdraw even as Ayaan Hirsi Ali, one of the most courageous fighters of oppression on the planet, had to walk from her honorary degree from a university established in the shadow of the Holocaust.

Report: Sterling lawyers to investigate other ownersBill Maher defends Basketball's Donald Sterling:
America is the new East Germany
So let me get this straight:
We should concede that there’s no such thing anymore as a private conversation, so therefore remember to ‘lawyer’ everything you say before you say it, and hey, speaking your mind is overrated anyway, so you won’t miss it. Well, I’ll miss it. I’ll miss it a lot …
Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling's team of lawyers has hired four private investigation firms to dig up dirt on the NBA's former and current commissioners and its 29 other owners, said a person familiar with Sterling's legal strategy.
Investigators were given a six-figure budget over the next 30 days to examine the league's finances, allegations of previous discriminatory conduct and compensation to past Commissioner David Stern and current Commissioner Adam Silver, said the person who spoke to The Associated Press on Thursday night on condition of anonymity. The person wasn't authorized to talk publicly.
The person said the investigators also are looking into whether other owners made any off-color jokes, or racist or sexist remarks.

The retail giant Costco Wholesale has issued an order to remove all copies of Dinesh D’Souza’s bestselling book, “America: Imagine the World Without Her,” from the shelves of its stores nationwide.
The book, in this midterm election year, is a strong rebuttal of the progressive ideology behind President Obama’s policies, which have been supported by Costco co-founder and director Jim Sinegal, a major Democrat donor and a speaker at the 2012 Democratic National Convention that nominated the president.
