“We’re sort of in this moment in which humans are obsessed that we’ll prove our own undoing—that we’ll poison the planet, we’ll destroy ourselves, and all these things,” Jonathan says in an interview.
“That’s the fascinating question - why is it that humans are so obsessed with not just the idea of their own Armageddon, but their own culpability.
”Man’s obsession with his own self-destruction is, at least in part, a function of ego. “Every generation believes they’re the last generation on Earth. Maybe one generation will eventually be right. I certainly hope it’s not ours,” he says.
Interstellar rejects that idea. “It’s about the way in which human beings adapt and transcend natural movements—apocalyptic type movements.”

Environmentalism is now in a multi-decade period of decline
Space exploration and environmentalism are polar opposites. When one is advancing, the other is in decline and vice versa.
The 1969 moon walk marked the final triumph of space exploration and the beginning of a multi-decade period of decline.
Earth Day 1970 marked the beginning of a multi-decade period advance of environmentalism, which has now ended.

GOP policy ‘rider’ in spending bill undermines bid to list grouse under Endangered Species Act
After years of watching federal bureaucrats, environmentalists and judges decide Western land-use and endangered species policy, Republican and Western lawmakers are drawing a line in the sand over the wide-ranging, chicken-size bird, which threatens to upend economic development projects across the rural West.

A stunt of this enormity was undoubtedly approved at a high level in the organisation.
The reason the Nazca Lines are so sensitive is that they are located in an area of desert comprising white sand dotted with darker rocks. If the rocks are moved then the sand is exposed and the pristine character of the heritage site is changed: which is why if you go to visit the area you have to wear special shoes and follow a particular path.
The hypocrisy here could scarcely have been exposed more clearly. Greenpeace markets itself as a charity which values the environment and cares about the needs of developing countries. Yet here it is, caught red-handed, riding roughshod over the interests of both.

Environmentalism was ascendant 1970-2009. Climategate marked the tipping point and the beginning of it's decline.
Look for it's decline to accelerate over the next few years.

Hollywood has started mocking global warming
A movie just out, Kingsmen: The Secret Service, indicates that the cultural tipping point has been reached. It is now safe and commercially profitable for moviemakers to mock belief in global warming.
The plot is that an evil billionaire by the name of Richard Valentine believes that humans, who cause global warming, are a virus killing the planet. To stop global warming, he sets out to kill a large proportion of humanity. His evil plan, which is much the same as the dreams of the green movement, is thwarted by people who dress well and have impeccable manners.

Critics have blamed the film’s preachy liberal themes for sinking the ship.
Perhaps the most surprising criticism of the film comes from liberal outlet the Daily Beast. In a piece titled “George Clooney’s Global Warming Shaming,” Kevin Fallon knocks Clooney for “shaming us for causing the end of the world.”
