Ben Carson is an American author, retired Johns Hopkins neurosurgeon and Republican Party candidate for President of the United States in the 2016 election.

he called the Affordable Care Act (ACA) "the worst thing that has happened in this nation since slavery," further adding that it is a form of slavery because it "[makes] all of us subservient to the government."

"Here's my solution. When a person is born, give him a birth certificate, an electronic medical record and a health savings account [HSA]".

the "concept of for-profits for the insurance companies" absurd. "The first thing we need to do is get rid of for-profit insurance companies. We have a lack of policies and we need to make the government responsible for catastrophic health care. We have to make the insurance companies responsible only for routine health care.

a system "similar to Medicare and Medicaid" to address "complex pre-existing or acquired maladies".

More generally, his position is that, "we need to remove health care from the political arena and recognize that any government proposals affecting the health of all citizens should be free market-based and should be so appealing that it would not be necessary to force citizens into the program."

UNTIL the status quo self-destructs from its own corruption, and the reformers are free to build on its ashes.

Hip replacement in LOBBYIST CONTROLLED USA: $40,364
Hip replacement in Spain: $7,371.
"That means I can literally fly to Spain, live in Madrid for 2 years, learn Spanish, run with the bulls, get trampled, get my hip replaced again, and fly home for less than the cost of a hip replacement in the US."

Oklahoma City hospital posts surgery prices online; creates bidding war

Surgery Center of Oklahoma does accept private insurance, but the center does not accept Medicaid or Medicare.
Dr. Smith said
federal Medicare regulation would not allow for their online price menu.

Mercy Hospital charged $16, 244 for a breast biopsy; the procedure will cost $3,500 at Surgery Center of Oklahoma.
OU Medical Center billed $20,456 for the open repair of a fracture; the procedure will cost $4,855 at Surgery Center of Oklahoma.
OU Medical Center billed $21,556 for a gall bladder removal surgery; the procedure will cost $5,865 at Surgery Center of Oklahoma.
OU Medical Center billed $23,934 for an ankle arthroscopy; the procedure will cost $3,740 at Surgery Center of Oklahoma.
Integris Baptist billed $37,174 for a hysterectomy; the surgery costs $8,000 at Surgery Center of Oklahoma.

They have avoided government regulation and control in that area by choosing not to accept Medicaid or Medicare payments.!!!

Poor INSURANCE LOBBYISTS! :cry2:

"Here's my solution. When a person is born, give him a birth certificate, an electronic medical record and a health savings account [HSA]".

"HSAs and their incentives have proven very effective in controlling costs in the real world.  Total HSA costs have run about 25 percent less than costs for traditional health insurance with much lower deductibles.  Annual cost increases for HSA/highdeductible plans have run more
than 50 percent less than conventional health care coverage, sometimes with zero premium increases.  A 2012 Rand Corporation study found
that those covered by HSAs spend 21% less on average on health care in the first year after switching from more traditional coverage.  Rand
estimated that national health costs would fall by nearly $60 billion if half of all workers were covered by HSAs."

It's a law of economics:
People care about cost only when it actually costs them something.
