Interesting question: should the VIX be 10 with the market structure being what it is right now???

- new highs

- robots

- more and more selling "worthless" puts each month cause it keeps working

- cheap insurance available

I was trading in '93 and the VIX went to around 9 I think. I called a friend and asked him if trading was coming to an end. "94 was a very volatile year even though the year didnt have much net change...wild swings.

I realize most traders "seem" to be more bearish overall, but arguments can be made both ways....your thoughts?

Well I think the "securitization" of the VIX has provided another (as if we needed one) tool for the manipulation of markets. Being short VIX has become a spectacular trade as the use of VIX slams to orchestrate short squeezes has proliferated. VIX 10 is a cause as much as an effect these days.

I drew trend lines on the smaller and larger similar cases I see - note these trend lines are parallel in either case. According to what I see, it could contact either low point marked with a red circle, and then turn up. The upper resistance line is what to watch, should it ever cross above that, well, you see here what happened the last time. The MACD wedges would also follow the same, as marked on the chart.

In my opinion, it is over for a while. 2392 target has been taken down. Doesn't mean it can't close above it. But I believe that today marks a top. I guess that it won't take long to find out if I'm right or wrong.
