However, the market operators may want to see their pre-planned target of SPX 2500 before rolling it over....................

Just went short ES 2495, that's equivalent of SPX 2498.  Tomorrow is likely a down day if not a gap-down.  MMs will try to get rid of some call holders on this last day of the quadruple witching (tomorrow is the last trading day for the QW OpEx, not Friday).

QW for Quadruple Witching, Maybe Quarterly Witching as well. For indices and futures such as ES NQ SPX, etc. practically Thursday is the last trading day for the current monthly and weekly options.

So today is the last chance for the market operators to reshuffle the options positions.  This rally is designed for this QW OpEx and so it should end as soon as tomorrow.

Technically the options can still be traded tonight till 9:30 am tomorrow morning.  And Equity options can still be traded tomorrow in the cash hours.

These quarterly expirations are always interesting, don't forget September futures, futures and cash options on the S&P 500 go off with first trades tomorrow morning!  Stupidest way to figure out a settlement ever in my view, the swings are amazing from where the cash S&P 500 actually trades first thing in the morning.  I once saw a 1% settlement move higher than any cash print first thing in the morning.  I always find it best to be out by the end of the day or roll into October, just as a reminder!  But yes can still trade futures options till 6:30 but I've found its always best to exit everything by the close of the cash market.
