"we crash from here"

crashes dont happen from highs...the vol will pick up first with some wild swings. Vol is an excellent buy here at low 9's on VIX.

1929 and 1987 both crashed very close to ATH. And that time there was less participation because of internet.

I was in the biz in 1987. The broad market topped out in the summer. The rally into the top was THIN. It was OBVIOUS that we had trouble coming. This market does not remotely resemble that market.

Mark,

When you say the market was thin, are you referring to market breadth? If so, are you referring to the NYAD line?

Thanks.

Secondaries were going down for months going into the Dow high. The A/D line was lagging too. Basically the only thing going up was the "Nifty Fifty"... or maybe the Dow 30. It was clear, most stuff was going down well before the official top.

Well...since we're talking about the old days, the NYAD line actually topped in March in 1987 and diverged with the price highs of August 25th. I took the time to create an array of what the charts looked like back then for those who may be interested (yes, the yield on the 10 year note was at 10%).
