Amen NAV! Amen! That was one of the earlier points Ibwas trying to make a my highest income years of my careeer is here and now. Soon my wife and I will be in Florence and Rome italy, paid for in full with travel perks. It’s a once in a lifetime trip and we are doing it now at ages 51 and healthy, not when we’re in our 60’s. I’m of the same mindset, save bit also enjoy life NOW while we’re young and. no more kids at home. The relocating we plan to do (to the country) will have to wait for a few more years. The expensive International trips, the wineries and breweries we visit, the Ritz Carlton’s; these are for NOW. The fishing on a nearby stream, the turkey, dove and duck hunting will wait until I have lots of time on my hands.

Totally agree!  I love my tennis and play everyday!  Gotta say though I'm 57 and still going strong doing weights yoga and pilates lol!!

You gotta spend well and enjoy life while you are young and stop scrimping and saving it all for retirement. As you age, you got to get more ascetic in your approach to life. The spending/joy ratio is highest when you are young. Remember that sex you had in your teens and 20s ? Can you replicate that at 60 ?

Leisure, enjoyment, happiness should be a constant process, a constant act of balancing and not something that you save for the terminal stages of your life.

I think a lot depends on what gives you pleasure. Quite a few years ago the president of the company I worked for hired a coach for the executive team who turned out to be pretty helpful, admittedly to my surprise. He gave us a diagnostic test to see what we valued. My result was "competence." The more I thought about it the more I accepted that he was right. So in retirement I have pursued skills that I didn't have time for while I was working. This has really helped me structure my time. I don't have the patience to sit on a beach, I'm afraid, and I've seen all the old churches I need to see. Boring. I accept that others may like to be bored, but that's not me. I wasn't bored while I was working and I'm not bored now.

I'v had hypertension pretty much all my life, so what? I take medication. I was never much of an athlete, but I can do anything I want, I ride my bike and use a personal trainer to stay fit.

I enjoy watching tennis matches on TV though I don’t play myself. Same with golf, enjoy watching but I don’t play. Yoga and weights, YES. Yoga is a life changer! My flexibility is terrific and lower back aches are gone...all due to a yoga.
