cycletimer, my entire system is geared for swing trading ETF's. I keep three time frames. Long, intermediate and short. I trade off the short using weekly charts as the base but daily charts are the trigger. All done in an IRA so there are no tax consequences.
We (wife) were at Fidelity but moved everything to Vanguard....where they tell you not to trade (lol). (Why don't you know, NO ONE can time the market!) If I use Vanguards ETF's/Mutual funds I pay zero commission. Anything is two bucks a trade. They so far have fast fills at good spreads.
I would rather be at Vanguard where the clients essentially own the business than Fidelity and making the Johnson family filthy rich.
BTW, my long term model is bullish, Intermediate is bullish. I need to see how the short term model shapes up. The weekly charts are almost signalling a buy, so, if my daily dips and looks to hold support levels, I may go fully long again.
