The "Lavender Mafia" refers to an informal network of gay executives in the entertainment industry.  https://en.wikipedia.../wiki/Gay_Mafia

But more generally it refers to the Catholic Church. A  faction within the leadership and clergy of the Roman Catholic Church advocates the acceptance of homosexuality within the Church and its culture

recent paper by a Ph.D. priest notes his discovery of a “huge homosexual underground in the Church” blocking justice for those abused by homosexual clergy.    https://www.lifesite...in-the-church39

They know well that they may be exposed and embarrassed, so they shield one another by offering mutual support. They build informal relationships reminding of a clique or even mafia, aim at holding particularly those positions which offer power and money.

When they achieve a decision-making position, they try to promote and advance mostly those whose nature is similar to theirs, or at least who are known to be too weak to oppose them.

Australian Catholic Cardinal Pell Convicted of Child Rape     https://www.theameri...pell-convicted/

Whatever you may believe Pell may or may not have done, the evidence for systemic sexual abuse and cover up within the Catholic Church within Australia is overwhelming – go read the report of the Royal Commission.

Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò has written an open letter to former-Cardinal Theodore McCarrick, encouraging him to publicly repent of his sins and thus to save his soul.     https://www.lifesite...odore-mccarrick

The former U.S. Nuncio’s open letter comes after reported disclosures from the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith that McCarrick’s case is being handled via a stripped-down administrative process — called an “administrative penal process”.

Such an “administrative penal process,” which canon law reserves for cases where the evidence is so strong that a full trial is deemed unnecessary, suggests that the odds of a conviction are very high.

Theodore McCarrick is accused of molesting three boys — the youngest beginning at age 11 — and at least eight seminarians in dioceses he formerly led. If convicted, the former archbishop of Washington, D.C. would be removed from the clerical state.

The ‘Satanic Evil’ of Child Sex Abuse in the Catholic Church  https://www.theatlan...abuse-catholic/

Video by The Atlantic

It’s no longer a secret that the Catholic Church suffers from a pervasive, decades-old child-sex-abuse epidemic, perpetrated by “a huge network of men: priests and bishops and cardinals and possibly even the Pope himself,” writer Caitlin Flanagan says.

Pope Francis has proved that the Catholic Church is totally incapable of tackling the stomach-churning sexual and financial abuses that are rotting it from the inside out

In Australia, Cardinal Pell - formerly one of the Papal inner circle of nine and number three in the Vatican hierarchy - has just been found guilty of rape and sexual abuse and will be sentenced this week.    https://www.dailymai...rotting-it.html

Francis has consistently dragged his feet over allegations of cardinals and bishops he knew personally - it took years to get Cardinal Pell to return to Australia, where he was Bishop of Melbourne and then Sydney from 1996 to 2014.

CATHOLIC SCHOLARS ACCUSE POPE FRANCIS OF HERESY CONCERNING MARRIAGE AND SEXUALITY

The signatories of the open letter, which include clergy, argued that Francis’ refusal to clarify his teachings on marriage, divorce, and Holy Communion in Amoris Laetitia, and what they see as his inappropriate handling of the sex abuse crisis constitutes heresy. The letter exhorts bishops to investigate the claims of heresy against Francis and, if they find them valid, to admonish him to renounce those heresies or remove him from the papacy.   https://dailycaller....rs-pope-heresy/
