Just a general question... How many black out periods a year? I thought one, But there was one Oct 18 so curious as to how these work

It happens prior to each company's quarterly earnings report.

For the SP500 companies, it peaks out at about 80 percent of them around mid month after the end of the quarter. Coming up would be mid April.
