I had Lasik surgery performed on my eyes on Saturday, May 13th. They had warned me that my eyes were extremely "dry" prior to surgery.
They apparrently UNDER-corrected my vision as I still see blurry! My vision is much better than before the surgery, but beyond six feet everything is still blurry, darn'it!
My eyes are EXTREMELY dry and are always sore and irritated, besides the inability to see 20/20!
The dear 'ol Doctor's response is that he will be able to perform an "enhancement" in a few months to furthewr correct my vision.
PLEASE, PLEASE, anyone on this board who has had the procedure done and it was similar to my case, please post or email me (kirktaylor966@aol.com) and inform me of your experience.
My hope is that you can put my mind at ease.
It is a HUGE decision to have this procedure performed in the first place (much tougher decision and scarier TO ME than a vasectomy!). Eyes are something you don't mess with!
Thanks,
Kirk
Kirk,
I think you are going to be just fine.
I had very poor eyesight and so after doing much homework, I elected to have Lasik surgery done a few years ago.
Like you, my first procedure came back under-corrected, and i was disappointed and a little nervous.
The doc explained to me that they would rather undershoot on the surgery slighty than to overshoot. You see, it is no biggie at all to have the enhancement done. They simply lift the corneal flap, zap it for a second or so and then voila! It literally takes a few minutes.
My corrected vision is now better than 20/15 in both eyes.
It is one of the very best decisions I ever made. I went from being helpless without my glasses/contacts to having razor-sharp vision.
The doc bought me a pair of temporary glasses to use for the couple of months I had to wait for the vision to stabilize before the enhancement.
The Lasik surgery was a flat fee, and so there was absolutely no incentive for them to keep bringing me back in--as someone suggested.
One's eyes are a scary thing to mess with. I did not take the procedure lightly. As a private pilot--I just reasoned that the added comfort and security of knowing that my eyes would always be sharp and not subject to the problems of contacts or lost glasses made sense.
Couldn't be happier. Enhancement are common, and usually nothing to be feared. Quite the contrary, actually. If they do an enhancement, it is actually better than if you settled in say the 20/25 range. now they will be able to remeasure your Rx and really dial in the proper calculations.
Hope this helps.
