It looks like a cross back up MAY happen next week. Maybe.
I was curious about some previous examples of 8/34 cross-overs with a second dip.
Here are two which look like the current pattern.
I'm leaning to a sell-off after the "PAUSE" is announced officially.
It may look a bit like 94 with a big red candle.

RD, I just love it when you make me think longer than a day. But today I guess you win my prize long term trading indicator. The dreaded 21ema cross down over the 34ema. I selected two time periods that are close to what you suggested above, then I went waaaaaay back to show how/when it happens. We so far do not have a cross down.
Comments, suggestions etc. are welcome and if I don't get more than two, then it's ......................

O Great!
Now you got me thinking...
One thing is clear to me...
You need to trade in a shorter time frame and use this longer term stuff as a backdrop.
If you wait to buy or sell when the 8 & 34 cross you can miss a lot of action.

Fictional 8/11/06 stick says "No doubt about it". Crossover point is currently 1175.2

Nice chart eminimee, I saw that and concur the chance is there.
RD, if you wont short term trading, I'm not the guy to talk to, except sometines
Below is a chart showing "one trade system" that I often use. Good results in a market moving around every few days. You have noted my referral to 5,21ema cross from time to time and here is a full blown chart with indicators. How to use it has too many "subjective" rules to list here, but this chart has some pretty clear points to trade from.
Best to all who responded to the post, and thanks.

You know RD, if one understands the rules and knows how to follow them, with a couple of options "in case"
things do change, it all works out. The 8 went under the 34, ST sell, the 21 did not, no IT sell, so watch the 5 and 8 play back and forth, and make a little money.
But, you have to have your "******** together" in order to do any good.
Best to you,
