Totally agree w/your perspective on healthcare/pharma system. People don't realize how connected all forms of media (textbook publishers, most periodicals, major newspapers, movie studios, and cable networks) , healthcare orgs, pharma, and even defense cos are. You have CEOs of healthcare orgs who sit on boards of pharma cos, and board members of defense contactors who sit on boards of pharma cos, or media cos and vice versa. Absolutely shocking but realizing this helps one see how we are duped You have to seek truth b/c it won't come to you. Also, with all the M & A lately in these areas, its becoming that much easier to brainwash the public. Hope your book changes some lives.

Thanks, yes ... [edited]

Big pharma and big food processing companies are into everything these days, from movies and TV to internet garbage and childrens books.

And advertising controls the masses ... no question ... unless one consciously chooses to avoid their pervasive ramblings and most importantly, images ... not easy, but can be done.

Best, C.C.

How many docs do you know who excercise and follow a nutritional plan or even have time to study alternatives to what their pharma reps tell them. I come from a large, mostly overweight, heavily medicated family and my ex inlaws were twice as bad. I'm considered a "fanatic" , "obsessed", kook by my family and ex inlaws b/c I disagree w/the docs orders, which is a few prescriptions. My mother's entire side of the family are on meds for high blood pressure because it "runs in the family"...has nothing to do with the fact that they are all 60-80 lbs overweight and live at buffets. My mother's doc smokes like a chimney and she thinks he's as smart as G...d b/c he can write her the perfect scrip. Ex wife quit working out and had a sugar free everything aspartame diet, gained about 35 lbs in about 3 yrs, on anti depressents nonstop and we got divorced because of it. Docs have all of them convinced problems are hereditary and they need the meds...
try to tell them diet and nutrition can alleviate most or all of their problems, and you'll get your face chewed off...you'll find stories like that everywhere you look.

I agree ... so called health "professionals" have the WORST habits when it comes to diet and exercise and looking at alternatives to drugs. [edited] Best, C.C.

ps... as you know I just stepped aside as Chief of Medicine at a very large and hugely successful hospital. I oversaw the credentialling of our medical staff. Nearly every doctor runs and works out. We have NO smokers on staff. Not one doctor here is overweight. We have piloted a program in Maine to teach responsible eating to Maine's children (we did this in our "free" time). We fund raise the money to print up the brochures and pay for the ad time on TV. We volunnteer in the local schools teaching nutrition. We are involved with a program that will likely lead to fining adults who are found smoking in their car if there are children in the car.
