The 12 hour RSI is something Da Cheif mentioned a few times, and I've been glancing at it from time to time.

When the 12 hour RSI goes into extremes (ie below 20) it is often a strong buy. As of late, the 12 hours RSI dipping into 30 territory has been a buy.

My guess is that a sustained downside will come when this RSI-12 on the hourly signal fails to produce a bounce, and not before.

Cheif, I'm familiar with the 5 day RSI. That's good stuff. I'm actually familiar with the 6 week RSI on the Qs.. that works like a charm.

I will look into the 5, 12 week RSI, 12 day RSI on the dow however.

The back test on the 12 hour RSI of the Dow, for as much data that I have, says its a true winner. I think even during the may 06 pour, this indicator worked (ie there was a bounce after it hit an extreme at about 20), whereas the 5 day RSI failed (ie failed to go back up after breaching 30).

Chief / DC.. what do you guys use as a trigger to enter the market when the hourly 12-RSI gets down into the 30 / sub-30 area? Just curious..thx

In my studies, you have various degrees of success.. if you want to have higher % of wins, you take your profits fast.. ie when RSI-12 hour goes to say 50. If you want to have higher profit for less % of wins, you let it run, say RSI-12 goes to 70.

Probably best to wait til it goes to RSi-12 to around 50, then put in a stop and let it ride.
