The only headline reason for the selloff that I saw yesterday was in reference to a comment from a federal reserve talking head that too much growth could lead to a further rise in interest rates. After pulling back from earlier gains but maintaining its stance something else turned the market on its ear.

I'm reminded of Jack Nicholson's word to Tom Cruise...."You want the truth son? You can't handle the truth". Then the gist of what followed as a Marine was "the truth is.....we save lives".

Well I can just picture the brokers staring the markets in the face and saying....."You want the truth boys? You can't handle the truth. The truth is....We tell lies"!

Headline that I referred to yesterday....

Upgrades: J.P Morgan upgrades Semiconductor stocks to Bullish from Cautious

After hearing all the contradictory stuff from semi land for weeks and weeks that was the perfect prescription for a bear-crushing rally. Then this hit the wires....

12:22 MU Micron doesn't have a bullish outlook for NAND for this year; doesn't see any new demand drivers for flash this year - Bloomberg (12.94 +0.2) -Update-

Ooops....what was that? Must have been the truth. I guess the market couldn't handle the truth.

The markets have a rythym up and down, that's what you must determine...news is worthless. Watch and measure the ebb and flow. Volume and breadth. News never made anyone any substantial money. Turn off CNBC and watch the ebb and flow.

The story on NAND has been out there for a long time including when I posted this on 1/29... http://www.traders-t...?...st&p=268621

Greenie, Thanks for bringing this up. I was curious to get a fundamental read on this. I talked with a contract manufacturing CEO friend of mine this morning. He discontinued his "channel" business last year including all the NAND flash modules, because of deteriorating margins. He said that although SNDK has the brand, the fab and all the resources to survive it, that the picture for consumer is crumbling overall.
