Like I've said, from convention to election all stops are going to be pulled to keep this pig flying but, the SEC even "considering" this was beyond my imagination.

It's worldwide:
Short-selling of financial stocks was banned in Britain on Thursday, in a desperate effort by the City watchdog to shore up the stricken financial system.

A banning in one sector would be bad enough, but in an entire market? This would be the death knoll for capitalism and lay out the welcome mat for socialism. U.F.O.

Shorting is passe anyway. Why would you short a stock anyway? You have put options. All can be done with those. I've seen a few folks bankrupted shorting stocks like dell and stratacom back in the day. I tryed to tell them but...... A put option would have limited there loss. Could someone explain a reason why you had to short a stock, that could not be done with options? These wall street gangsters crush stocks till everyone says uncle, and believe me they have patience. Then and only then do they run it hard and fast. I'm pretty sure theyjust did it big time with gold stocks. I bet they sold those down hard with company money and I bet have been scooping them up with there own personal money. I would love for there to be an investigation into this. We shall see who makes the killing down the road.

What confounds me is that nobody minds.

What scares me is that there is nothing one can do.

I'm panicking because it eliminates the floor from the market.

When folks legitimately short, they are a guaranteed buyers--at a time when not regular buyers are going to find the nerve to do so.

Sheer idiocy.

And yes, I believe it will cause a real, true and lasting crash. If they do it.

After that Martial Law wouldn't be too far behind to control the civil unrest of everyone losing everything they've invested.

As govt. agencies go bankrupt, maybe they'll start paying govt. employees in AIG scrip.
