Based on 10 year VIX/SPY ratio, S&P won't top until late Jan 2010.
With limited data, I welcome better database interests to better my hypothesis.

I am not a great follower of VIX and somewhat cautious about it's time reliability. (I use VXO as it is much older, but has some of the same faults)Was going to post when "either camp" crys; but what the hac, timing is everything. I'm flat right now.

Below is one of my long term charts and gives a fairly good view of somewhat accurate timing points for LT & IT traders. I get more faith is the RSI setup in conjunction with vix/SPX ratio.
Chart attached for your review.

2010 is quite possible. One of the three Elliot Wave scenarios that have been laid out (the most bearish one by the way) postulates that the 3RD wave ended at the March lows and what we are doing now is an A wave.
What should follow is a B wave down, not necessarily to the March lows, followed by a sharp C wave up that will be called the real BULL market. If so, that should peak in 2010, to be followed by the deluge into 2011 and beyond......
This sounds crazy but the USD$ equivalent is the inverse of that
