:D New science research finds: {The major ozone polluters can claim that climate change and increased ozone is due to kudzu alone and would receive support from the most noted "There is no global warming"} Manuel Lerdau, a University of Virginia professor of environmental sciences and biology, published a study of kudzu in the journal ‘Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences’ on May 17, 2010, that directly links kudzu to large scale increases in surface ozone. Kudzu produces isoprene and nitric oxide that can react with atmospheric nitrogen to produce ozone. "This chemical reaction caused by kudzu leads to about a 50 percent increase in the number of days each year in which ozone levels exceed what the Environmental Protection Agency deems as unhealthy" according to Lerdau, Jonathan Hickman now a postdoctoral fellow at Columbia University, Shiliang Wu and Loretta Mickley, atmospheric scientists at Harvard University. Milder winters have allowed kudzu to increase its range and grip as far north as New York and Pennsylvania. This discovery could be a two edged sword in Birmingham and Alabama. The major ozone polluters can claim that climate change and increased ozone is due to kudzu alone and would receive support from the most noted "There is no global warming" advocate University of Alabama in Huntsville Climatologist John Christy. Kudzu can be used as a source for biofuel. The preparation steps needed to cut kudzu into small enough pieces to be processed is cost prohibitive at present. It is heart warming to all Southerners to know that kudzu is aggravating Yankees too. BTW: The list of NEW RESEARCH on this is growing quickly, so money can be diverted from global warming to ozone by plants-IMHO.

Kudzu?
Is that a new kind of sushi?

Negative effects
Scientists at the University of Virginia and Columbia University have discovered that the kudzu vine activates isoprene, nitric oxide, and nitrogen in a chemical reaction which produces ground-level ozone.
