Amazing that they haven't evacuated people yet. As I've posted here before, the northern 1/3rd of Japan is going to become uninhabitable.

This is the story of the century that's being WAY under-reported, if not purposely sequestered.

Strontium found 250 km away from Fukishima. Yokohama south of Tokyo. 150 times levels of background readings. If its there, its everywhere in between, and worse. Sky high cesium levels reported too. Radiation in tap water all over. Many levels allowed are 20 times that of Chernobyl, which the Russians smartly banned people from areas where this existed.

This is a world humanitarian crisis unfolding, and yet barely being reported, except in non-mainstream outlets. Are they just going to let people stay and develop cancer, or worse generational mutations ?

Innumerate BS

Tabloid reporting

150 times miniscule is miniscule.
Sky high?
There is always radiation in water.
20 times what?

We live in the age of ignorance and fear; especially ignorance of numbers.

How about some quotes from MIT, Cal Tech, Harvard Health or UC Berkeley?

If you don't think its dangerous over in Japan - how does an neutron ray grab you. They are also picking up radioactive iodine again - which suggest that the reactors have gone critical again. I'm sure they are not reporting or even keeping track of radiation sickness. But I'll bet they are still shipping out "hot" containers to various countries around the world.

Tabloid Trash

Neutron ray

No such thing; even in a reactor core.
No reactor engineer even heard of a neutron ray.
Detectable neutrons of any consequence require a critical mass of enriched uranium.
Only gas and particulate can leave a ctmt blg, ie xenon, iodine, cesium, not uranium.
These people are both liars and idiots.

More fear and ignorance - media visits Fukushima

The power station has reached a stage in their recovery efforts where they could comfortably allow the news media to enter the station and have a first hand look around.

Devastation!!

Was that scene at the power station any different from the scene outside the gates of the power station? The waves of the tsunami affected a wide swath of coastal land.

Nuclear power plant spewed large amounts of radioactive materials!!

It takes some creative writing or ignorance of facts to call a release of 97 kilograms of material from a large industrial facility over several weeks “spewing”.

It could also be decades before residents will be able to return!!

Nearly all of the exclusion zone has radiation dose rates that are substantially lower than dose rates that exist in other areas around the world that have been continuously inhabited by people for many centuries with no evidence of ill effects.

Fukushima consequences in perspective – Senator Tom Carper (D-DE)

The US Senate Environment and Public Works Committee held a hearing on March 15, 2012 titled “Lessons from Fukushima One Year Later: NRC’s Implementation of Recommendations for Enhancing Nuclear Reactor Safety in the 21st Century.”

Senator Carper (D-DE) asks the commissioners to share what they know about the total number of radiation related deaths associated with the “nuclear disaster”. As Commissioners Magwood and Svinicki point out, the number is ZERO

Carper then asked about the death toll due to commercial nuclear energy production in the United States since its inception in 1957. Commissioner Ostendorff responded that no one has died as a result of a radiation accident at either a US commercial power plant or on board a US nuclear powered warship.

Senator Carper then pointed out that, as the chairman of the Clean Air Subcommittee of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, he had heard numerous testimonies in recent years about people whose lives were ended – not merely disrupted – by their exposure to dirty air from burning coal, oil and natural gas in utility power plants.

Still Waiting for the Northern 1/3 of Japan to "Become Uninhabitable"

Noda Ends Japan Nuclear Freeze

Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda ended Japan’s month-long freeze on nuclear power, approving a reactor restart that combined with a tax increase may undermine his political support.

Two reactors at Kansai Electric Power Co.’s Ohi nuclear plant can be operated safely, Noda declared June 16 after meeting with three Cabinet ministers who share approval authority. The utility, which serves the $1 trillion economy of Japan’s second-biggest urban region, said it would immediately begin work to start one reactor.
