A self portrait has recently been found and it's thought to be a self portrait of Leonardo. Here it is exposed in Tallin (best images I' ve found)

Some of his charachteristics were already known...........such as hair and eye colour, but no one knew how his face was in (relatively) young age. The only known portrait was in old age

One of the most brilliant of people ever.

Artist, pioneer in human anatomy, scientist, inventor etc.

Obviously homosexual by his anatomical descriptions.

He showed female genitalia as like an anus.

He had never seen one it seems.

Perhaps a better description was "like a vast cavern". Whatever! Perhaps it was unseemly to study female corpses but he had many other areas of female anatomy incorrect. He also considered normal copulation as being "standing up"! None of this takes anything from his great advances in human knowledge. One of the greatest if not the greatest genius in human history.

Voltaire, remembering Leonardo because of his sexual habits is a bit reductive I think. When I sleep I dream of naked women every two nights (don' t get me wrong, I' m not a maniac), but I don' t have one tenth of Leonardo's geniality and I say one tenth but I could say much less..............and I have always been told to be smart which makes me think to be above average IQ In any case Leonardo is not a scientist............he is astonishing because he was talented in so many different fields..........that's the key I think. Scientists were Galileo and Newton for sure both smarter than Leonardo, but none of them was so talented in so many different fields. Newton for sure is a giant, because his three principles or laws of dynamics have pushed the start button to modern phisics I believe
