Higher concentration of financials on S&P that are being sold (shorts and outright long liquidations) are the probable reason for this. U.F.O.

That's pretty clear, but why would Nasdaq volume be so thin? :o

There might be something bullish there... we'll let the charts tell us.

We rally in December with thin volume.......That was not bullish.....Now, we decline with thin volume that is also bullish?.....Last Wednesday, market gap up and kept on going until the final hour, volume picked up on the down side....That was the ST, IT top.....We need massive volume for the down side to be bullish!

January's high (1665.56) could be the "C point" of an A-B=C-D pattern.
The A point is 2473.20 (August high).
The B point is 1295.48 (November low).
That would project a "D point" at . . . 487.84
Current Positions: Long EEV @ 40.29, Long DUG @ 24.66, Long DXD @ 59.62, Long SDS @ 72.70, Long TWM @ 61.84, Long QID @ 48.21, Long FXP @ 20.43, Long SSG @ 43.76, Short XOM @ 69.31, Short AAPL @ 117.52

Maybe Uno... but you know the drill, we have to see strong volume at the B point... That's why I have to reserve judgement. Haven't seen that volume pickup.... B)
