I left trading futures and currently only trading forex, my question to the board why trade futures? I mean with all this gap stuff and the nightly govt. intervention it's turned into a circus...anyway just thoughts...good trading all

gap ups and gap downs also effect non futures traders
futures allows positions to be put on and taken off virtually 24 hours around the clock, you can't do that otherwise
trading futures allows incredibly easy IRS reporting, no hours of typing stock dates, prices, etc
less filling, tastes great
etc

ZMAN, are you saying that beacuse the FOREX market is a 24/7 market and as such gaps are nearly non existant and when you have them they manifest in a more gradual way with footprint on the charts so that you can react perhaps on a 5 MIN or 10 MIn chart? and your stops might even work as they are intended to be.
Intuitively feel that way, but am I correct on that?
If I were trading this stuff, I would have to put a stop every time my 8 hr or whatever trading session is over. So you don't get run over when you are having some drinks or sleeping. Problem with 5 X 8 markets is that stops don't work as if there is a gap you will be forced to eat the gap as a loss if the market runs against you. Correct?

Its the same in forex there are gaps ups and down....I make most of the money from the gap up and down. Both have regular intevention
The market catches almost everyone on the wrong side. We always seem to get fake break out before that huge dump or the hugh dump before the false break down! Trade Safe!
