A couple of weeks ago, thru Ebay, I paid $9.95 to get a password to watch TV on my computer.
The site is http://user.1tvpc.com/

I can stream 3000 movies free INCLUDING new releases such as Bruno.

I just watched a Ron White special.
Here is the movie link which apparently anyone can use without a password.

Is this legal or what?

Mahalo Roger. I'm right now watching one of my all time favs, Network ("I'm mad as hell, and I'm not gonna take it anymore") projected up onto my 52" Toshiba flat screen. For free :o Very cool B)

PS: Actually the best line is Ned Beatty's : "You have meddled with the primal forces of nature, Mr Beale, and YOU SHALL ATONE!"

We're on the cutting edge! LOL!
What is your method of getting streaming movies into your TV?
Computer HDMI card, cables, wireless, Apple TV product?

I have been running a SlingBox HD Pro from a friend's house in the US for about three weeks now. Since we both run high speed internet, 10M plus, I see that my end maximizes the stream at 2100 Kbps, pretty insane bandwidth. Am I to expect a knock on the door? How else do they monitor the web for pirated info? Some insight might be nice so I can prepare for a worst case dooms day scenario, with deportation perhaps?

Yanksalot
no worries. you wont get any knocks.
what your doing (i have done for years) and it has nothing to do with pirated material on the web.
the slingbox was made to do exactly this and its ok. I also use a friends box and just have access to it
but no harm done at all.
btw, if your interested, you can also sign up for netflix instant view and get that streamed here as well (if your from the US).

From time to time TL readers ask about ways in which they can watch particular tv programs or receive programming from their home country. I want to echo that the Slingbox Pro is the way to go - and I use a Mac, so life is good. The fine print - you'll need a cooperative friend "back home" and both of you need a high speed internet connection.

Having said that, I can watch anything on the Verizon FIOS network from the you.S. (thanks L!). In the interests of full disclosure, your friend should have a second cable box else when you change the channel, your friend will be stuck watching whatever you want to watch. And, given the obvious time difference, you should upgrade your friend's extra box to include a DVR - currently, you can't record the Slingbox stream which means that you must watch real time, and here in Sweden, that can be a drag. Shale mentions the same in a posting from last year on a different thread.

Although I am from the States, this scenario will work for any other country and Sweden. Happy viewing!

There is a standard outlet in the back of the TV that says PC monitor, and an input mode that reads PC monitor. So bottom line - I just plug in the Toshiba exactly like it's just any other monitor.... Great for my zillions of charts and technical indicators, too...or better yet, for reading Rogerdodger posts......

Ebay Link
Seller: satellitetvnow911
You'll get the magic password the same day you order via e-mail.
It can be used on multiple PCs at the same time!

Last night I watched Afganistan TV... and Irish TV in Irish language.

Understood neither.

" Cead Mile Failte" which means "One Hundred Thousand Welcomes"

Problem I had was picture quality.
I used the old "S" plug.
I understand a DVI / HDMI cable works well.
But I don't have one on the 3 older computers I have, just a VGA and "S" jacks.
So It's back to Walmart!

A friend has the Apple hookup, wireless I think.
Youtube was great on his 52" Toshiba.

Miy understanding is that the question is: 1) Is it copyrighted material? 2) Do you have the permission of the copyright owner?

There's alot of filesharing that goes on. Most of it illegal. There's a young man now in Boston being sued for $4 million or so for sharing music.

I don't have a clue though whether this is illegal or not. It is copyrighted material. The fact that it is free makes you wonder about the source of the material.
