My business partner and her husband just went to Maine for the weekend (Wells - Kennebunkport area) which in the middle of the summer is typically a mad house - not this month. I usually go up mid to late October and February time frame - I like to walk the beaches in a snow storm. Beach front motels were full but she still got a room booked last week - impossible usually unless you book a year in advance. Cottages and motels off the beach are posting vacancies (Little walk to the beach). Route 1 traffic is actually manageable and their was no 45 minute to an hour or more wait at the Maine Diner - and empty tables. So much for a RECOVERY - Maine depends on the money coming in between May and October - sounds like they will be a little short this year. Mary Anne

30-40% WOW that is a lot.

I may have mentioned this a couple of weeks ago but I think we hit a multi-year peak in tourism by my work in April. The 08-09 lows will very likely be tested in the coming year or so.

Expect exceptional travel deals from cruise ships hotels etc. probably even better than 2 years ago.
One more thing restaurants are in a multi-year topping zone. Both of these industries should be hammered for several years. If you ever wanted to travel but wanted great deals the greatest deals in our lives are coming.

If I am correct about this equities may not take it too well in the coming year. It means the consumer will be hording cash, paying down debt and surviving a long period of no job growth likely.

I hope you are right about the peak in the tourism industry. Travelling has become so friggin' expensive, i keep wondering where on earth is the depression going on. Every nook and corner on the planet have become expensive. I used to get great travel deals in the pre-depression era (before 2000) ;) Since this darn depression began in 2000, prices have only been marching higher :P Screw the money multiplier, rate of change of M3, depression economic theories, 40 year cycles, Kondraitieff and all that crap. Show me the money. Show me the deals :)

Dude, i am hoaring cash for that moment. I don't mind taking a 6 month break from trading, to travel, if what you say happens. Besides, who would want to be trading when SPX is at 200 and VIX at 5.

 where the spx will be not sure but not here. I am 90% sure of my work. SO the cruise lines and everyone else should start bumping up the offers in the coming months you will likely notice the offers will continue to be better and better as we go and that should confirm my work. Keep an eye on where you would like to go or do and watch the email offers get better. :D
