Odds are that today is not the end of a bull market or even the end of a huge bear market rally, whatever you choose to call it. Historically most tops take a while to develop. Crashes tend to occur after an uptrend has been weakened considerably and more often after the trend has changed. I am still only 40% short. IMO the best way to know when to increase short positions is when they start to increase your equity on down days and at least do not hurt you on down days.

Hello James.

"when to increase short positions is when they start to increase your equity on down days and at least do not hurt you on down days."
I'm a bit confused about your statement. Are you carring both long and short positions?

Yes, I should have added, from the vantage point of a position trader. I make a concerted effort to be short weak stocks stocks and be long the strong ones. I've always held positions but several years ago, I started holding both shorts and longs at the same time.
