Public education is just another union organized government failure.
And without any doubt it is a reflection of the overall total failure of socialist/statist "The Great Society."
Give these poor parents vouchers and let them find an awesome school for their children.

Just 19 teens in NJ city score high enough on SAT to go to college...

I say that prisons and public schools are just warehouses operated by unions who own politicians who keep the scam in operation.
The result is nothing but tragic.
A Department of Corrections corrects nothing.
A Department of Education wastes America's most precious resource with mediocrity.

Students in the United States performed near the middle of the pack. On average 16 other industrialized countries scored above the United States in science, and 23 scored above us in math. The reading scores for the United States had to be tossed due to a printing error.

Atlanta cheating scandal teachers go to cells in hand-cuffs: Eleven educators face up to 20 years in prison for inflating their students' test scores to get bonus money for their schools . . . and for themselves

The entire country needs to acknowledge that our current system of public education is an absolute monopoly that is corrupting teachers, administrators, school board members, and other elected officials.

The 11 teachers, testing coordinators and other administrators were convicted Wednesday of racketeering after a five-year investigation

Evidence of cheating was found in 44 schools across the Atlanta school system, with nearly 180 educators involved

Prosecutors said the educators were guaranteed bonuses by inflating scores, while improving the poor reputation of their school system

Superintendent Beverly Hall , the alleged ringleader who received up to $500,000 in payouts , died of breast cancer as the scandal went to trial

Education Reform will come when... Student's Unions are as powerful as Teacher's Unions.

It's gotta start somewhere...
Libs are all about unions as long as they don't have to make any concessions themselves.

Screw the students!

Graduate Students Start Movement To Unionize
Columbia has not recognized a union that graduate students voted to form in 2014. Those students have since brought their case to the NLRB, which has not yet announced a decision.
When New York University teaching and research assistants unionized in 2013, they were the only union of graduate assistants recognized by a private university in the U.S., according to The New York Times. Many administrations at other private universities where there have been unionization movements have opposed it.

New Minnesota Lawsuit Challenges State’s Teacher Tenure and Dismissal Process

From California to New York, political and policy struggles between labor groups and education reform advocates over teacher tenure laws have slowly made their way through the courts.

The next battleground? Minnesota.

An education reform group initiated a lawsuit against the state Wednesday afternoon, alleging that its laws governing teacher tenure and dismissal violate children’s right to a quality education.

It’s not the first time Minnesota’s teacher tenure laws have drawn scrutiny. A 2015 investigation by the Minnesota-based Star Tribune found that five school districts had paid more than $2 million to get rid of ineffective educators over a two-year period. The process of building a case and firing a teacher can drag on for years in costly legal battles, making the payouts an easier strategy to improve a school district’s workforce, analysts told the newspaper.

The new film Won’t Back Down

A parent horrified by her daughter’s awful education joins with a once-jaded school teacher to take over their local public elementary school and rescue kids from union-imposed mediocrity.

The film is based on real events surrounding efforts by frustrated parents and teachers across the country to use “parent trigger” laws to transform failing schools. Maggie Gyllenhaal plays the poorly educated Pittsburgh mom who wants a better future for her dyslexic third-grade daughter. She sees a teacher from her daughter’s school (Viola Davis) at a lottery for the handful of slots in a high-performing charter school and believes she can be an ally for reform.

We beat the teachers union!  DeVos is Education Secretary!

The rotten status quo is the only explanation for the bid to block DeVos. The teachers unions pulled the strings, and the political puppets danced to their masters’ tune.

DeVos survived because President Trump is determined to deliver a government that shatters the insiders’ perks and privilege and opens the door to new ways of doing things. In education, that means giving more parents the power of school choice and taking power away from the union establishment.

Millions of children, most poor and many black and Latino, are forced to attend failure factories that rob them of America’s promise. While family breakdown is a prime culprit, the social contract requires society to do its best to compensate.

What has been the result of  the teacher's unions on children?

Mediocrity at best.

Just check out the USA compared to MANY other countries.

Nuf said.

Mother arrested after homeschooling children...
Kids seized...

Her two elementary school aged children weren't excelling at their failing Buffalo Public Schools.

"I felt that the district was failing my children and that's when I made the decision to homeschool," she said.
3 weeks later they still have her kids!

I remember going to a Tunica, Mississippi casino and playing 21. Our dealer was a young lady from Memphis. Every time that she had a 21 but we had a 22, she paid us...Ah. The good old days. That casino is now closed.

2,400 elementary school teachers in NC flunk math exams...

Almost 2,400 North Carolina elementary school teachers have failed the math portion of their licensing exams.

Teachers Unions Oppose Bill That Makes Sex with Students Crime...

April 3, 2019

"Both teachers’ unions made their objections to HB 5817 known.

It would make sex between school employees and students a crime—even after they’ve turned 16, the legal age of consent in Rhode Island.

Almost no one seems to be aware of this loophole in the law and yet it leaves high school students without any protection from those who would sexually abuse them after their 16th birthday. We are also a state who, after a year long investigation by USA Today, received a grade of D for how well we track and share information about teachers who are also alleged abusers."
