These reactors are going to be emitting massive quantities of nuclear radiation for years and years.

I know its difficult for most folks to wrap their minds around this, or be cognizant of how utterly devastating this is going to be not only for Japan, but many countries "downwind" of this plume of poison. That does include the US, and not just the west coast.

That they haven't evacuated the entire northern 3rd, if really not the entire northern half of Japan by now, is truly an unforgiveable mistake. All of humanity is either ignoring, or barely watching, this situation. I wonder when it will be, that enough people "wake up" and actually decide that some other country needs to step in, and rescue these people from their stubborn pride, and combined ignorance.

The radiation is all over the planet now, in many oceans, and its insidious, because people aren't dying instantly, but incurring eventual pre-mature death by a thousand cuts.

I'm not sure that even the entire planet praying is enough to mitigate the disaster that is unfolding right before our eyes.

They get it but what do you do - evacuate the northern hemisphere. This is soon going to affect the food supply seriously. Health effects will begin in the US within the next year or so but it won't be reported. Japan already is simply declaring deformed newborns as "still born" - sadly probably the only choice. Encapsulating it with concrete containing boron sand for now is probably the only immediate answer but the enormity of that job is unimaginable.
