"With all due respect Mr Congressman, when are the adults going to enter the room?" Good job Maria. Stay on it....

Am I the only one who remembers Sophia Loren?

The only one? Definitely not. When I was fourteen, I was refused entry to a movie theater in the small town I grew up in when I tried to buy a ticket to see "Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow." I'd seen a trailer for that movie in which, according to the story (or at least the teaser), she was the prize to be won in a carnival raffle. Who would resist that storyline?

I wrote a letter to the editor of the local paper protesting the theater's censoring my chance to see her in that movie, and subsequently most of the rest of the town in a barrage of letters to editor on their own vehemently disagreed with my position. No kid my age should be subjected to obvious attributes of that woman, they basically said. My mother was furious at the s.h.i.t storm I'd started, but it was worth it. Having ever seen her, who could ever forget Sophia, to say nothing, later, of Claudia Cardinale (carrying the buckets of water to the guys building the railroad at the end of "Once Upon A Time In The West), or Virna Lisi as Jack Lemmon first saw her rising out of the cake in "How To Murder Your Wife," or Laura Antonelli as the object to young boy's obsession in "Malizia" (how old was that kid anyway?!)? Italian women of another time... And now people dote on Tony Soprano?

"If you've heard this story before, don't stop me because I'd like to hear it again," Groucho Marx (on market history?).

Not a Maria fan, but "the beauty" is a definite diversion from the beast - shouldn't we really be getting hot and bothered by the quality of "intelligence" in Congress, as personified by the Barney, rahter than media hotties who for once show a little backbone? BF's speech impediment does not impede his double-talk and vapidity one iota!

GRRRRRR......absolutely painful to sit thru

"separate out the prop trading from the lending activity" - uh, yeah, that is what we had for all those years thanks to Glass Steagall - but Glass Steagall is now an unutterable word for PC society - wonder why :)

that nasty south of italy....
