Remember Folks what Rodger has buried in his back yard is Vodka not Gold. Kyle Bass is interesting but Carmen Reinhart has no axe to grind.

UT's endowment is fortunate to have Kyle Bass. Too bad not all University Boards have such bold thinkers around.

Their USD $1 Billion+ stash of gold bars can help finance a secession from the Union, if needed. Currently worth north of $1.2 Billion, based on 2010-2011 cost-average purchases.

Kyle Bass recently gave a compelling interview on his JPY/JGB thesis posted @ ZH here: http://www.zerohedge...rt-japan-thesis

RD did say he was burying vodka (july 12, 2010) BUT he was joking about new tax recording rules.
My own holiday spirits led me beyond decorum. Sorry RD

I drank it all last week...just before the Myan end of the world.
As I passed out I kept thinking: "They were right!"

People that own physical gold better find a good way to hide it, if its in a bank vault the government can come and seize it as they did in the 1930's, if you buy if from a dealer it will be recorded that you bought it so the government will know who has it. If you burry it on your property it must be deep enough so that scanners cannot see it, deeper than 4 feet and there is also equipment than can determine if soil has been disturbed used by forensic scientists and satellites can also do this. So is there any safe way to hide gold? If the government gets the records from the gold dealers and knows you have it and they know the real estate you own then it seems likely they will be able to find it. As the growing debt crisis manifests governments will become more and more desperate to take the people's money.
