Not when they close at the lows with no sign of strength, the door is still wide open to lower prices.

You are right about the volume. But the question is: who is setting up this trap? Bulls? There are no bulls. It is a bear market. Bears sell, then bears cover.
No trap. We will see lots of fear tomorrow, then over the weekend, then next week.

The trap is closing inside the 1/23 candles on these indices today, we're being sucked down to test those lows, don't fight it.

Oh, there are bulls. Just not the herd. The herd is bearish, thats true. But look and the SPX chart with volume pattern. Up days are on higer volume then down days. Someone is accumulating into weakness.
