OK , great, inflate and inflate but tell me how does the man or gal carrying a brown paper bag to work get a raise or get some money to buy this inflated stuff. How do seniors on fixed income, people try to go to school, widows, city workers get more money to buy in this inflated world. Tell me how?? Most of the country can not get a raise, wages are all but frozen, about to lose their job or be layed off. 2 year Tbill is 1.73% A dam joke. Please answer me , i would like to know the answer to this one.. thanks bearnic

Well, I read somewhere on the board today it's due to their "self fulfilling prophecy" Nick. Simply put Nick, it's all in their head. Their biggest problem is they have a bad attitude. They are where they are because they think failure not success Nick. If they just quit thinking negative thoughts of failure, remembered they live in United States of America and have some gratitude, their financial fortunes will change immediately.

Nick,

Great question that I agree with, as I know I have children that are having the same issues. I cut your question and sent it to Russell, maybe he will address it.

The real inflation rate may not be so bad, but I think that it beats the alternative. It does you no good to have prices falling when you don't have a job. The Fed can cut because the long bond is telling us that serious inflation is not a serious risk right now. The cost of housing, which is 1/3 of many folks budget, technically just fell 15%. That makes up for a lot of $3.50 gas. What do you do? You live smarter, more efficiently, and you look for other ways to be more productive. That's all we can do. Mark

"The cost of housing, which is 1/3 of many folks budget, technically just fell 15%." Well I own a house and I'm not saving 15%..........US bank is raising my mortgage despite the decline in my home value. Not sure I believe the 15% cost of house decrease in that context.

Exactly, you walk out of that POS that's loosing you value and making you pay for it and let the bank pick up the cost, the write off instead comes right out of the inflation, so the Fed can try to inflate as much as they want to, the people are giving them back a big middle finger.

What do you do? You live smarter, more efficiently, and you look for other ways to be more productive. That's all we can do.

There's a humanly limit to this... The families are already 2 income, they are already working insane hours, they are already not collecting overtime most of the time, they already ignore their health and eat junk food so that they can finish the work...

The bottomline is just so that the rich would not see their asset values deflated, they are squeezing the life out of the working class, in fact even if it wasn't for the deflation, they wouldn't care any less anyway to make more profits.

The system is self corrective, no matter how hard the directors of the central banks and their buddies at the investment banks try. The more they prevent the self-corrective mechanism, they are turning into a self-destructive mechanism...

Here, I wasted 3 mins of my productive time for this rant!

Youve given one solution right here: "Every normal man must be tempted at times to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin to slit throats."

As per the ancient Athenians, you know, the ones we got "democracy" from - those who do not take an active role in civic politics shall be stripped of their ciizenship.

its a start.
