Glenpool Oklahoma was once the world's richest known oil reserve, producing over 120,000 barrels per day.
It made Tulsa the "Oil Capital of the World" for 50 years.
Now it's getting a new "Green" Walmart, complete with Sushi bar.

Store features energy-saving technology
GLENPOOL -- A new Wal-Mart opening Wednesday is being billed as the company's continuing commitment to help conserve energy and have a positive impact on the environment, officials said.
"All of our new stores will have the environmentally friendly features. It's something we've been testing for several years, and we think the features reduce the store's environmental impact," she said. "When the daylight-harvesting system is in full effect, it reduces the energy costs by up to 75 percent." The roof of the store has skylights, or the daylight-harvesting system, that help reduce the amount of energy from electrical lighting during full sunlight. The store's lights will dim when there is enough sunlight, which will continue to help light the building and cut down on energy costs, Wyatt-Moore said.
Freezer cases and non-sales areas of the store are equipped with LED lighting and sensors that automatically shut off the lights when the areas are unoccupied. Wyatt-Moore said the LED lighting throughout the store will operate more efficiently than traditional fluorescent lighting. Contractors also used recycled materials for the store's flooring, which is a stained concrete mixed with a coal byproduct. The store will have a sushi bar and a money center, which is designed for nonbanking customers who can conduct financial transactions, she said. Also featured will be a hair and nail salon, a City National Bank branch and a Subway restaurant. "The sushi bar is something fairly new in our stores, something we've been doing a couple of years. We choose to put the sushi bars in stores depending on the market, and we felt this store was in that particular market," Wyatt-Moore said. The store's bathrooms also are environmentally friendly, with regulated water flow through the use of sensor-activated faucets, toilets and urinals. Wyatt-Moore said turbines in the faucets help generate the electricity to power the sensors.
Buchanan said the opening of Wal-Mart in Glenpool will be a major economic boost. Sales tax collection is expected to increase significantly once the store becomes operational, he said.
Buchanan said because of the expected increase in sales tax collection and expected commercial growth, the city council recently reduced water and sewer rates by 3 percent for the next three years for city residents.
