wait for the Thunder to come out and then make your purchase.... I'm waiting to compare the Thunder to the new IPhone. Also, don't forget you are buying the service, too. I've heard negative things about ATT but then again it depends on your location. Verizon is generally accepted as the best network in the CONUS.

one man's humble opinion - for one, I have been fairly happy with both iPhone and 8800 in different contexts. Really depends what you are looking to et out of your mobile. To summarize - iPhone: great functionality, apps are nice, keyboard/touch takes some adjusting to but now I can probably type at same speed as I can on blackberry (although more typo prone). Most of my forum-browsing And posting is on iPhone. Screen resolution for video is pretty strong. 3g network is much faster than original but safari still hangs fairly frequently. My biggest qualm is with battery life - there aint much. Need to charge daily or stick a fork in it. Bberry - like 8800 quite a bit. Mobile Internet is always fast, keyboard very effective for typing lengthy responses, just doesn't have the media functionality to rival iPhone. Bberry is a cellphone; iPhone is more akin to handheld minilaptop.

i switched from a verizon treo to iphone, the iphone is great for surfing the net off of local networks etc. as time progresses it needs additional functionality for emails and the like, not up to part from that standpoint with my previous treo but i'm sure that will change quickly as some software developers add more applications.

There are many more apps for Iphone and more are being developed daily. So functionality wisde, Iphone is superior. Plus full page internet browsing. Not some mobile version. And of course the "cool factor" :) The open platform that allows apps development is Iphone's biggest competitive advantage. Also don't forget Google's Android based phones will start coming out this fall. You might want to look into that option too.

Consider reliability. The lines are frequently long at the Apple store with complaints and repairs to iPhones. Blackberry is more reliable and more stable. Suggestion: Wait for the Blackberry "Thunder" which should come out next month. It is a touchscreen iPhone style Blackberry.

Don't forget the "Chick-magnet" factor.
Especially since you cut off your mullet.
