What's driving the markets lower and why just before our elections? The timing is questionable, to say the least. A lot of possibilities come to mind including economic terrorism.

If you consider DuPont, Catapillar, Ford, Boeing, Wachovia and Amazon for starters "economic terrorists" you may be on to something. Putting out such lousy reports and announcements is not what "real America" is all about is it?

I think that would be 5-600T of derivatives. That's the whole ballgame.

Now don't go looking to shoot the messenger.....i'm a hardcore libertarian that believes in same sex marriage and 1 newborn per household since they both reduce traffic in the long-run  (i'm kidding of course....i'm really an anarchist that believes in radical gov't reform and propose the creation of a come-to-jesus thinktank that results in fiscally prudent policy-making actions (or inactions) AND accountability for reckless deficit spending  ) that aside, a simple observation....it's been a "testy" 8 years, hasn't it? Conspiracy? Bad coaching? Or just another cycle in the perpetual economic longwave?

well...an 8 year chart didn't post like I'd intended, but u can look up the SPX:XEU ratio for yourselves......

totally agree: pickens is the biggest con man on the planet, right up there with soros. this has nothing to do with politics, since they are on different sides. actually, that is wrong: that are on the same side - their OWN side. everything they say is for their self interest. soros made his big money shorting the pound with inside info that the BoE was going to devalue. and pickens wants us to give him over $100 billion.

i gave my conspiracy theory in another post - it is not related to elections, it is only related to transfering wealth, in that since the credit music has stopped, there are only one step left, to crash the market, which will, inter alia disenfranchise the baby boomers who are starting to remove their wealth, and allow productive assets to be bought for next to nothing for the slow slog back up.
best,
klh

Did I say that? If it is a conspiracy to affect the elections, then the market should move higher after Nov. 4th.
