last time the May thru nov time period stunk this bad

Just take 1931, for starters. No rebound occurred that year following the Dow's greater-than-30% loss that year between May Day and Halloween. It instead proceeded to lose an additional 47% over the subsequent six months. From good ole mr hulbert.

That was the part of the market drop that kicked the crap out of the "smart money" who went back in after the crash in '29.
