hi tommyt, I like energy and in particular oil specific plays (USO, UGA, HOU.TO) in the first quarter and likely through 2009. See my Hurst cycles post on the swing board. There should also be a big equity rally at some point from a low that could start as early as Jan. some time. I will try to trade that. I'm not interested in shorting other than for day trades. I'm short treasuries but it is only a small position right now. This is more of a hedge but I will be looking to play bonds more aggressively short after Jan. I also have been playing preferred shares of late, buying and selling low liquidity issues in banks for example. Low risk entries on pullbacks and any 5-10% gain is pocketed. Very conservative investing/trading is my theme for 2009. Good luck. cheers, john

Thanks John...I am with you on the oil trade. USO has had a series of lower lows and higher MACD lows, creating a huge bullish divergence:

DNN - I am already long from much lower so whether it pans out further in 2009 is up to your own discretion -
