preset profit targets (which entails missing the rest of the swing)

Assuming the trader did not re-load on the next buy signal after taking the profit.

That's correct. And sometimes market may not provide the right setup for reentry in cases of gap-up/gap-down and run.

Frankly, I think "trading for a living' sets you off on the wrong road. "Trading to make a fortune" seems to me to be the right tack.

Just an opinion. Maybe it's just my age.

IT, I agree with you here totally.

Maybe it's just my age too. I never had to do 'trading for a living', when I retired from the 'job for living' and just do 'trading for fortune', that has all been what's there's to it. Now in addition, is 'trading for lust- the love of beating odds', as many days I prefer a year.

Talking about :
"Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness", one of the most famous phrases in the United States Declaration of Independence and considered by some as part of one of the most well crafted, influential sentences in the history of the English language.

Sometimes something always happens, but a "gap-up/gap-down and run" has nothing to do with not providing the "right" setup for re-entry.
