IS POG MANIPULATED?

Also if you look at the gold COT http://www.financial...etals/COTG.html, it is my understanding that the commercial shorts have not been wrong in 20+ years. Although I don't understand exactly how it might benefit them, I wonder whether heavily hedged producers such as ABX (who some say are now market speculators first and miners second) might not participate in manipulating the POG.
However, I have come to believe that this is a good thing, I used to "buy chips on dips" for years a no brainer - now it's gold mining shares.
Interested in your thoughts.

I have come to suspect that the POG is manipulated. If there is a big rally, or a big selloff, it usually starts around lunchtime in NY. Recently, on Columbus day, a sell-off started at about 11:30 and by 2:00 the POG was down by about $5. If you wanted to have maximum impact on the market, what better time and date
The reason for this is that London Gold closes at 12:00 New York time - and from that you will generally see a shift in money flow based on the PM fixing.
A simplistic answer to your observation, but it's worth noting.
And generally speaking, gold will continue to churn higher as long as there is too much money in the system for it to be absorbed by the other various financial vehicles that are out there.
In other words - with the Fed still looking at deflation and not inflation as being an economic problem - the price of gold will continue to move higher and higher - and probably in spite of the technicals that maybe apparant at this time.
And, yes, the dollar continues to show monthly bull divergence. But this doesn't mean that the dollar will rally right this second.
It also means that gold doesn't need to have the dollar to continue to decline for the price of gold to continue higher as well.
Trade the pattern - not the noise.
