it means twice as many puts are being bought vs calls for whatever market this is.

However, what I see is more indicative of a top than a bottom

Go to stockcharts.com and look at  $CPCE

I think the link below will show you the put/call ratio and very not bullish for the bulls ratio

Looking at the CPCE
It was very high at the end of January 18 (market top) and very low at the end of December 18 (market bottom).

Right now the CPCE is very low.
How is that an indication of a top when considering the recent past?
To me it looks more like a bottom, not a top.

I use that data and compare it to the VIX....

My data is on the daily chart below, and you can decided.... I currently have my VXF position hedged (Long VXF and a small position of VXX)

VXF remains on a buy signal for now based on my trading system, but some indicators showing up are a concern. That is why I have a hedge on using VXX for today....

Note the move for VXX on July 31st.....  What happened on that day?  Maybe it will be different today, but I'm hedged anyway... Waiting to see if it's a sell the news event.....

Waiting to see if it's a sell the news event...

Market technicals don't support a swift down move today.
