I was searching for parts for my latest robot lawnmower build when this very serious sounding video shows up asking for patience.

The guy's shop is basically an empty ghost town... because of ... the Chinese New Year (wink wink censors)

I can't tell if he is worried about his business, his family, the virus, or the government.

No doubt they censored and approved his message.

I hope that this is controlled very soon for the sake of the victims,  but also wondering how many businesses are going to be economically damaged or disappear before this is over.

A bought some UCO (crude oil) last week when it became extremely oversold, but it could fall much farther.

Travel via air or cruise has to be feeling the effects.

I  would hate to be stuck in an airport or cruise ship for weeks on end.

Or be at a crowded theme park with thousands of sneezing people.

The sanitary hand-wipe dispenser at my local grocery store was empty, and I read about a shortage of surgical masks in some areas.

Front line workers are not..."available"

Yes, we're over the Stage 1 Shock, and now heavy Stage 2 Denial is under way...

I was at Costco a few times briefly the last 2 weeks, and I saw hand trucks loaded with bottled water toilet paper and canned goods going out the door...way more than usual.

I use surgical gloves now to do things like pump gas, lots of hand cleaner and hand washing...

It's all about safety - avoiding human contact.

China hasn't shut down all those cities for nothing, it's KILLING them, and they had no choice but to tell the people to go back to work.

But they aren't...

Wish me luck! Me and the missus will board Carnival Ecstacy cruise ship coming Monday for a 5 day cruise.

Will report back upon return.

will board Carnival Ecstasy. Wish me luck!

I bet you will be safer than staying home.

I think I watched the Super Bowl while in docked Cozumel 5 years ago while on board Carnival  Ecstasy.

Great seats, food, traffic and weather! And much less than real Superbowl tickets!

(As I remember there were a lot of Bronco jerseys on the floor when the game ended. Feb 2,2014)

But back then it was another problem causing virus; the norovirus

It's always something.

My neighbors just got back from a cruise on The Liberty.

I'll welcome them back home in 2 weeks...if no symptoms show!  LOL!

Meme of the month?

Coronavirus nearly wipes out Hong Kong!

600 rolls of toilet paper stolen by armed robbers amid coronavirus outbreak.

Police have nothing to go on!

The coronavirus outbreak has had an unexpected consequence -- a rush on toilet paper.

And people are apparently going to desperate measures, turning to crime to get their hands on a roll.

Police in Hong Kong said men armed with knives stole about 600 rolls of toilet paper Monday.

Rumors of shortages came after China announced there would be some borders closed because of the virus.

Dun & Bradstreet researchers found that at least 51,000 companies worldwide, 163 of which are in the Fortune 1000, have one or more direct or “tier 1” suppliers in the impacted region, while at least 5 million — and 938 in the Fortune 1000 — have one or more “tier 2″ suppliers.
