IMO because until recently the general markets have been so weak and we have also had many mine shut downs. Been watching the miner/gold ratios and IMO they look like they are ready to rally hard to the upside as is the GSR to break hard down

gdx, gdxj , goau. all have the market peering over the neckline. however i dont think its decisive victory for the bulls , yet.

i want to see more positive action.  the spread between spot and june gold is striking - rounding off its about $60  try to buy something buillion or coin at spot.  its near impossible  to even buy a coin near the $60 difference.  spot is no longer the market . in spite of what the press says, there is scant physical to be had and those that do have some want hefty premiums

i remind myself in 09 it took some time for the sector to get rolling. these enormous schemes to get the economy kick started involve printing large amounts of dollars.. rickards is saying the imf will also print sdr..i just dont see gold staying range bound for long. and to top it off we have an election coming up.
