Wyoming and Arizona are not comparable. All you have to do is divide population by area of state in square miles.
Arizona is much more densely populated than Wyoming. And there are lots of old people in Arizona who die much more often from covid-19.
Also, only southern Texas, and Florida are really out of the lack of sunlight latitude band for winter.
Arizona has done much better than Washington or Ohio or Indiana though, states that would be more in line for a comparison, population and density
And Florida did extremely well compared to the northern states when you consider how many elder folks they have.
Florida is at 80 per million vs a lot of the more dense northern states over or pushing 1000 per million.
