  • According to a protocol-based treatment algorithm, among hospitalized patients, use of hydroxychloroquine alone and in combination with azithromycin was associated with a significant reduction in-hospital mortality compared to not receiving hydroxychloroquine.
  • -Findings of this observational study provide crucial data on experience with hydroxychloroquine therapy, providing necessary interim guidance for COVID-19 therapeutic practice.

I saw reports on CNN & WSJ. Looks like a decent study with enough data points.

No surprise at all about CNN shoving it under the rug.

HCQ was a staple in our medicine cabinet for decades in virus infested India.

And I do not recall any heart issues with anybody in my parent's large family.

You're not being lied too. You've been given multiple controlled studies showing it did not reduce patient death rates and one study showing the opposite. Unfortunately no amount of treatment compares to just wearing a mask. Prevention is by far a much better alternative than treatment. It's too bad there are politicians who continue to act like the seriousness of COVID is a fabrication. There's good reason the FDA and surgeon general have repeatedly advised against hydroxychloroquine.

CNN did report on it. https://www.cnn.com/...tudy/index.html

More than likely the improvement was the result of improved treatment regardless of hydroxychloroquine. Steroids, anti-inflammatory drugs. I'm going to believe multiple controlled studies which have been peer reviewed with supportive data over an observational study that threw hydroxychloroquine into a cocktail of drugs that are known to work. You're better of with steroids, anti-inflammatory drugs and improved treatment protocols. At the moment the government is sitting on a huge stock pile of hydroxychloroquine they don't know what to do with.

Dr Zelenko Pre-print dropped yesterday as well..

https://www.preprint...025/v1/download

Summary

Results: Of 335 positively PCR-tested COVID-19 patients, 127 were treated with the triple therapy. 104 of 127 met the defined risk stratification criteria and were included in the analysis. In addition, 37 treated and eligible patients who were confirmed by IgG tests were included in the treatment group (total N=141). 208 of the 335 patients did not meet the risk stratification criteria and were not treated. After 4 days (median, IQR 3-6, available for N=66/141) of onset of symptoms, 141 patients (median age 58 years, IQR 40-60; 73% male) got a prescription for the triple therapy for 5 days. Independent public reference data from 377 confirmed COVID-19 patients of the same community were used as untreated control. 4 of 141 treated patients (2.8%) were hospitalized, which was significantly less (p<0.001) compared with 58 of 377 untreated patients (15.4%) (odds ratio 0.16, 95% CI 0.06-0.5). Therefore, the odds of hospitalization of treated patients were 84% less than in the untreated group. One patient (0.7%) died in the treatment group versus 13 patients (3.5%) in the untreated group (odds ratio 0.2, 95% CI 0.03-1.5; p=0.16). There were no cardiac side effects.

You were being lied to.

Most of the studies that showed it had no effect were given to patients in advanced stage of disease, and in many cases at extremely high doses.

In addition to that, no one has ever said it was intended for use in the hospital setting other than folks who did studies that were intended to fail, so that a $20 preventative measure would not displace a $3000-5000 measure given in the hospital setting.

The entire premise of the HCQ treatment is to administer it early enough to keep people out of the hospital in the first place.

And for that purpose, the evidence thus far is overwhelming that it helps...a lot.

Mask is helpful when you must spend time with people and social distancing is not possible.

But during my shopping trips to stores couple of times every week, I am never close to others.

And therefore mask is immaterial. What really matters is never touching my face with unwashed hands.

Because there are ten thousand places in a large store where others have touched recently and could have left behind virus cells.
