I think herd immunity is why New York's Covid-19 numbers seem to be less affected by large protest gatherings.

Herd immunity mentioned by several here.

35 states now  strongly rising virus stats---out of control

Don't worry, soon whole country will have herd immunity, so we all be safe.

Are you serious?

Number of covid-19 infections is being thrown around as something worse than STD. The same news stories NEVER mention that the ratio of covid-19 deaths / number of infections is dropping every week. Never mind we are now testing more than any country by orders of magnitude. So if so many are getting infected shy are death counts from covid-19 not going parabolic?

My guess is it is the younger crowd who has been  shutout are out of the house first, crowding the beaches and bars and restaurants. People in nursing homes are not known to crowd those places. So the younger crowd is passing around mostly Asymptomatic infections and possibly acquiring immunity. If deaths are not accelerating, hospitals are not going to be running out of capacity to treat those who are symptomatically sick.

Yeah, wake me up please when death numbers follow infection numbers proportionally.

Case counts are meaningless. Firstly, there's more testing, which, despite lower positive test percentages, will show more cases, many of them false positives. Secondly, we're getting multiple counts of the same cases with repeat tests. I see some areas with rising cases that SEEM like they might be hot spots, but we have no idea how hot they are from case data.

I can say that hospitalizations are down in the CDC's CovidNet and down by a lot. If things were out of control, it would show there, and so far, it hasn't. I'll allow for a possible reporting delay, but I think the members of the network were selected to minimize this delay.

Similarly, deaths are way down and persistently so. Cases began "spiking" 19 days ago. If this were a problem, it should be starting to show in the Daily Deaths about now. Thus far, it hasn't.

The hard, reliable data doesn't suggest any reason to panic, or really, even to be concerned.

Let's check those numbers in a month and again in the Fall. We'll know then whether there's reason to be concerned, but it may be too late then to keep the economy and people alive.

Claire, just a fair earning....be prepared to be disappointed. Because death count is dropping every week.

Tanking  the economy will damage more people than anything the virus is capable of. (suicides already going up, domestic violence, alcohol and drug abuse, child abuse etc are likely to rise when people lose their jobs and dignity). Most deaths from covid-19 are people with serious health issues. Economic depression of 1930's was nothing to sneeze at.

Traders critically analysing drug studies.

im a medic, and respect your trading views here.

....as for your medical views....

you are entitled to your opinions.

Following an idiot like sheep, who espouses the potential benefits of a drug combinations medics are concerned about using, and then the benefits of injecting bleach....that, I fear is unwise.

Trust science and medicine, not your personal bias and trying to fit ‘facts’ that support that biased narrative

I'm not sure what my future holds... But I know who holds it.
