little was known about the virus early, and how to handle it-Europe brought most of it in

dense large population 8.4 million in the city super dense population

flights from Europe  and China-enormous amount always-brought the virus

now

intelligent governor and mayor and others

best hospitals and health care in the country

people care for others, follow guidelines

even during the worst times back in March  , areas like Upper East side of Manhattan zip codes 10028, 10022 had very very low virus rates  check it out-research it

The answer keeps coming-another couple weeks and most states will top out, so don't worry-herd immunity will take care of all. Tell that to all whose loved ones are dying, because our country is handling it worse than nearly every country in the world.

The reason it's better is that the ones who would have died are all dead already.

I think he means that those people who were weak and elderly have died already and the remaining ones are healthy and/or young and thus less susceptible to the virus killing them.

I don't think we're doing particularly poorly. We have fewer deaths per 100k than Spain, Italy, Belgium, the UK, and France. Germany has us beat by a lot, but that's about it among the big European countries.

Now, of more interest, take a look at all the hard hit countries. Their daily deaths are in single digits. Same with the hardest hit states (NY, Connecticut, New Jersey). That sure looks like something akin to herd immunity.

It's surprises me that none has mentioned possible role that  indoor AC plays in "hot weather" states: Florida, Texas, Arizona, Nevada, California in circulating air?

Given how musty a/c vents smell, one can suspect there's a role.

I see positive tests appears to have curled over, but I'm not liking the daily deaths.
